Our costs will vary depending on the complexity of your legal matter.

 

You will receive an estimate of your legal costs at your first appointment.

 

If you decide to retain Mackie Crompton we will also discuss what payment option best suits your needs - you can engage us on an hourly basis, or we can negotiate a fixed lump sum fee.

 

We will then ask you to sign a retainer agreement. This will clearly set out our mutually agreed costs arrangements.

 

This agreement will include:

 

·     Our charge our rates,

·     Our costs estimate,

·     How you can deposit money in our trust account,                  

·     How you will be billed, and

·     How you can dispute an account.

 

If you cannot afford to fund your case, you may be entitled to have your costs partially or fully paid for by the Legal Aid Commission of Tasmania.

 

We can advise you how to go about making an application for legal aid assistance, and lodge the application for you. If your application is successful, Mackie Crompton can then act on your behalf.
